Orange wine is a wine made with white grapes, but in the manner of a red wine. Specifically, this consists of fermenting white grapes without first pressing them. The skins of white grapes contain tannins, just as black grapes do, and when macerated they give us tannic, structured wines with a lovely orange colour! This method of producing wine is as old as antiquity, and is a tradition that began in the Caucasus, in Georgia.
- An attractive golden orange.
- A very expressive nose of citrus and crystallized fruit.
- In the mouth there is freshness without acidity, good structure and tannins, and aromas of citrus peel and zest. The long lingering finish has just a touch of bitterness, typical of this type of wine.
- The tannic structure of orange wines makes them a great match for food. No need to reserve them for seafood or aperitif… they will for example go perfectly with a chicken in cream sauce.
